Day 1

Get to Whittier
Pack gear into dry bags
Get fitted with kayaks
Water taxi to Barry Arm
Paddle to Black Sands Beach for camp #1, which has views of an actively calving tidewater glacier

Day 2

Break camp
Paddle through scenic Harriman Fiord, home to one of only two advancing glaciers in Prince William Sound
Stroll the beaches, watching for oyster catchers, merlets, eagles, and many other fascinating birds
Make camp near Surprise Glacier

Day 3

Break camp
Paddle across Harriman Fiord with seals and countless sea otters resting on icebergs
Paddle to Toboggan Glacier Beach
Prepare for water taxi pickup or make camp in you have more than three days

Days 4 and 5 (optional)

If you have more time you can extend this trip to include an amazing paddle out of Harriman Fiord into Port Wells. The western shore of Port Wells is lined with protected bays, which are excellent for camping and exploring. Wildlife is abundant and the ecosystem is thriving. Additionally, an abandoned gold mine from the early 1900's provides an exciting diversion from paddling.
